Evening Star Mercury Resin Print

$50.00

115mm/4 1/2” tall solid resin print of Evening Star Mercury. Spray painted with Rust-Oleum “Chalked” ultra matte paint.

Mercury, Hermes Trismegistus, Thoth; magicians resonate with this figure for a reason. The quicksilver dancing between the poles of duality, the messenger traveling to the high heavens and the depths of hell, the trickster, having no allegiance to either and concerning themselves only with what works. The access point to the coincidentia oppositorum, or unity of opposites, begins with the whirring of that Mercurial flutter back and forth between the two.

In Astrology the difference between a morning and evening star is whether it rises before the sun, or sets after it. The qualities and characteristics of the planet express themselves much differently depending on which phase it’s in – more Yang and active during the morning star phase and more Yin and receptive during the evening. The idea behind Mercury as an evening star, Mercury having to do with how one processes information, communication, thought, intellect, the churnings of the mind etc.. all of these are turned more inward and reflective. Mercury swiftly crosses the distances of the imagination and spirit world as opposed to the physical, the closed eyes still see an entire world inside.
